Volunteers are an essential part of the Brewfest's success. We thank you for you willingness to be a part of this great event. We hope you will join us as a festival volunteer. Not only will you have a great time, you will receive:
  • An official festival t-shirtwhich will be your uniform during your shift

  • Free one day admission to Brewfest
  • Garden admission

  • Tasting tickets
We will hold a short orientation at the start of each shift in order to cover OLCC regulations, server duties, and any other pertinent information. As per state liquor laws, drinking before or during your shift is NOT allowed. This will be strictly enforced. You must be 21 years of age or older to volunteer at Brewfest.

There are two ways to volunteer for Brewfest.

Visitor Center OG Booth – Located in the Pavilion, this booth will combine the coat check (new this year), lost & found, selling taste tickets, as well as answering questions about the Oregon Garden, the Brewfest, and Silverton.

Volunteer Postitions are as follows:

Ticket Booth – One booth will be located in each venue (Pavilion & Tent) and will sell additional taste tickets to guests. Must be comfortable with cash handling and making change.

Server – Generally will be stationed one volunteer per booth, pouring beer or hard cider for guests. Important to fill only to the fill line, will be using both a tap and a pitcher. Information cards about the beers & hard ciders will be available at the booth for volunteers to refer to.

Admissions – This area has several volunteer positions: Cashiering, Will Call, Backstock, and Line ControlCashiers are required to have some experience with cash registers, making change, etc. Will Call will check in guests who are on Will Call lists or have pre-purchased tickets to the Brewfest. Backstock volunteers will ensure that the cashiers are fully stocked with mugs to give to guests. The Line Controlvolunteer will be positioned at the head of the admission line to facilitate smooth processing of the line.

Merchandise Booth – The booth will be located in the OSU room of the Pavilion. This position will assist Garden staff with sales of merchandise from the Garden and the various brewers. Previous retail experience is encouraged but not required.

Floaters – Volunteers in this position may take a variety of roles. They may be asked to step in to help as Server, help with clean up, fill in with crowd control, bring water to the booths, or other duties. If you sign up to be a floater but do NOT wish to serve beer, please note this in the “Additional Comments” section of your volunteer application.

Keg Changer – Volunteers in this position must be able to lift heavy items and knowledge of keg changing is preferred. This position will also help to bring water to the booths and/or empty ticket containers.

Garbage/Glass Patrol – This position will assist the maintenance staff, checking garbage in the restrooms, watching for and cleaning up broken glass on the floor, providing water to the booths, etc.

Set-up – Assist the Garden Events staff with preparation for the event. This can include setting up pipe and drape, setting up tables, stuffing mugs with tickets & information, etc. Clean-up – Help with some clean up at the end of each night. The Monday shift will assist the Garden staff will tearing down the event, pipe & drape, linens, etc.

Beer Pairing Dinner on April 26th – This position will greet guests attending the dinner and will take tickets.
